Your guide to cake cutting!

The following cutting guide will provide you with just-right dessert sized

portions from your round cake.  This "straight line" method makes for less

mess when cutting, and more pieces of cake!  Even the 8" round cake, which

people usually cut into "wedge" shaped servings, can be cut using this

method.  (A standard party sized serving is 2" x 1.5" x 4"H, and a standard

wedding sized serving is 2" x 1"x x4"H)

FOR PARTY SIZE SERVINGS (change the serving width to 1" for wedding cakes):

Cut a 2" strip off the end of the cake. Cut two corner servings and divide the remaining cake into 1.5" wide pieces.

Cut the next 2" strip of cake, and gently lay it down on its side. (You CAN leave it standing if you wish.)

Start cutting pieces about 1.5" wide, and transfer pieces to plates.

Continue cutting 1.5" pieces until that strip is finished.  Cut another 2" strip down the cake, and cut those into 1.5" pieces as well.  When you get to the last strip of cake, it's best to lay that down flat before you cut, as it doesn't have anything left to lean against and could fall over during cutting.
